Mixed hardwoods, or economical hardwoods, are our bestselling category. They are made from lower density species like black alder, alder, bird cherry, and maple. These woods burn quickly with a pleasant aroma and are often used in catering and smoking. Due to their greater availability and lower price, these species have been popular as wood fuel for wood burners for years. The main advantage is their affordability, but the downside is their lower heat output compared to denser hardwoods.
